Ask IQ a question

Ask IQ about your entities, people, filings and documents, from its own page or beside the record you are working on.

Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.

IQ is the assistant built into IQ Entities. It reads the same records you do: entities, officers, shareholdings, registrations, filings and documents. Ask it the questions that would otherwise mean opening a dozen pages, such as which companies have no fiscal year end recorded, or who the directors of every UK subsidiary are. IQ is an AI assistant, not a person, and the page says so above every chat: check anything you will rely on.

Ask from the IQ Assistant page

  1. Click IQ Assistant in the sidebar. Your past chats are listed on the left; New chat starts another.

  2. Type your question in the box at the foot of the page and press Enter. Press Shift+Enter for a new line without sending.

  3. IQ shows its work as it goes: each record it looks up or change it wants to make appears in the chat as it happens. To stop it, click the stop button where the send button was.

Ask about the page you are on

  1. On any page, such as an entity's overview, click Ask IQ in the top bar.

  2. IQ opens beside the page. It is told which entity you have open, and whether you are looking at the whole group, so you can ask "who are the directors?" without naming the company.

  3. History at the top of the panel reopens an earlier chat.

Give IQ instructions for the chat

  1. Click the + button in the question box and choose Instructions.

  2. Write the guidance IQ should follow for this conversation, such as which law to assume or how to cite, and click Save.

The same + menu has Upload from device, to give IQ a document to read with your question, and Prompt library, for questions your team has saved to reuse. You can also drop files onto the chat.

Tips from practice

  • Name the entity and the period when you ask from the IQ Assistant page: "directors of Northwind Holdings Limited appointed since January" gets a better answer than "recent directors".
  • Ask IQ to show where an answer came from before you put it in a board paper.
  • Before IQ changes a record it asks you, depending on the setting you choose. See Choose when IQ asks first.
