Keep licences and registrations renewed
Record a registration's expiry date so its renewal appears on the Compliance Calendar 60 days ahead, then roll the date forward once renewed.
Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.
Licences, regulatory permissions and overseas registrations lapse quietly. A registration recorded with its expiry date does not: IQ Entities raises a renewal task for it 60 days before the expiry, due on the expiry date, and the task sits on the calendar with everything else. The one thing it needs from you is the date.
Record the expiry
Open the entity and choose Registrations under Compliance in its sidebar.
For a registration not yet recorded, choose New registration; see Add a registration.
For one already listed, choose the actions menu at the end of its row, then Edit.
Check the Details step and choose Next.
On the Dates step, enter the Registration expiry. Go on through the remaining steps and choose Save changes.
When the renewal falls due
A task named Renew followed by the registration's name appears on the Compliance Calendar 60 days before the expiry. Renew with the issuing body, then close the task with a note of what was done; see Mark a task as done.
Then edit the registration again and enter the new Registration expiry. The renewal moves to the new date, ready for next time.
Tips from practice
- A registration with no expiry date raises no renewal. Recording the date is the whole of the setup.
- A cancelled registration raises no renewal either. Record the Cancelled date when a licence is given up, so nobody is chased for it.
- For a VAT registration, record the VAT return periods from the registration certificate. Until they are recorded, the VAT return duty cannot be dated.
- Some duties, such as the ICO data protection fee, take their date from a registration. Record that registration with its expiry so the duty has a real deadline rather than a yearly review.
