Model a proposed reorganisation
Copy the live group onto a canvas, redraw it as the proposed structure, keep named versions, and export it for the board.
Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.
Before a hive-up, a new holding company or a disposal, the board and the advisers want to see the group before and after. A model is a freeform canvas seeded from the live group: you can move, add and remove companies on it without touching any register, then export the result for the steps paper.
Start a model from the group
Open the company at the top of the part of the group you are reorganising, choose Relationships, and filter the chart to what the model needs.
Choose Model this structure. The model starts from the chart exactly as it is on screen.
You can also start from Modelling in the main sidebar, where New model opens a blank canvas. Choose Import from entity on it to bring in a company's structure.
Redraw it
The model opens on the canvas, named after the company. Click the name to rename it, for example "Project Kestrel: target structure".
Use the tools down the left side of the canvas to select and move cards, pan around, add shapes, groups, text and sticky notes, draw relationships between cards, and pin comments for your colleagues. Import from entity adds another company's structure to the same canvas.
Changes are saved as you go.
Keep the before and after
Choose Versions.
Under Capture current canvas, name the snapshot, such as "Pre-restructure", and choose Save. Choose Restore on a version later to return the canvas to it.
Export it
Choose Certified extract first if the chart is to be certified as a true copy; a signature box is placed under the diagram.
Choose Download.
Choose Image (PNG), PDF, Word or PowerPoint. The PowerPoint is built from editable shapes, so advisers can adjust it in their own deck.
Tips from practice
- Capture a version of the group as it stands before you change anything. It is the "before" page of every steps paper.
- A model never changes the registers. When the reorganisation completes, record the transfers and allotments on each company, and the live structure chart follows.
- A model is a picture of ownership, not of the money. To see how a funding round dilutes the members, see Model a funding round.
