Draft a document with IQ

Have IQ write a Word document, PDF, spreadsheet or slide deck from your records, then review, download and file it.

Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.

Much of the paperwork around a group is the same information in a new shape: a note for the board listing the directors, a spreadsheet of filing dates for the auditors, a few slides on the group structure. IQ can look the information up and write it into a file in one go, which you then check, edit and keep.

You need Ask IQ for
A note, letter or memo to edit a Word document
Something to send or keep as it stands a PDF
A list to sort, filter or add to a spreadsheet (Excel)
A few slides for a meeting a presentation (PowerPoint), with a title and bullet points on each slide

Ask for the document

  1. Open IQ Assistant, or click Ask IQ on the page the document is about.

  2. Say what the document is for, what goes in it, and the format:

Draft a one-page note for the board listing the directors of every UK company in the group, with the date each was appointed, as a Word document. Put the same list in a spreadsheet.

IQ looks up what it needs, then asks before it writes each file: IQ wants to create a document. or IQ wants to create a spreadsheet. Click Approve, or Approve all for both.

Review and keep it

  1. Each file appears as a card in the chat. Click it to open the file beside the chat.

  2. To change it, tell IQ what to change in the same chat. It revises the same file, and the card shows the new version number.

  3. When it is right, click Download, or click File under entity to save it with a company's documents.

Check before you use it

  • Check every name and date against the register. IQ writes from the records it looked up, and a record that is wrong or missing is wrong or missing in the document.
  • A spreadsheet cell that starts with "=" is a formula, so totals keep working when you edit the figures.
  • Statutory documents built from your organisation's own templates, such as board minutes or written resolutions, come from the template generator instead; see Generate a document from a template.

Tips from practice

  • Give the reader and the length ("a one-page note for the board") and the document comes out the right size.
  • Ask IQ to add the date and the records it used at the foot of the note, so whoever reads it later knows what it was based on.
  • The presentation is plain slides. Paste the content into your own template for anything that goes outside the team.
