Report a director leaving
File the TM01 for a director whose appointment has ended, from the task the end date raised.
Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.
When a director resigns, retires or is removed, Companies House must be told within 14 days of the day they stopped. Recording the end of the appointment in IQ Entities raises the task for the TM01, dated from the day the appointment ended rather than the day you recorded it.
File the termination
Record the end of the appointment: see Record a director resignation.
Open the (TM01) File the director’s cessation task from Compliance Calendar. The sentence under the title names the director and the date they stopped being a director.
Click File a registry form.
Check the director, their date of birth and the Termination date in Review before filing, then click File it.
Tips from practice
- Use the date the director actually left, from their resignation letter or the board minute, not the day you heard about it. Companies House counts the 14 days from that date.
- Two directors leaving on the same day are two filings, so expect two tasks.
- A resignation recorded in error is undone on the appointment, not by leaving the task. Undoing it withdraws the task, unless the filing has already gone.
