Report a change to a director's details
Save a change to a director's details as a change, so IQ Entities raises the filing that tells Companies House.
Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.
A director marries and changes their name, moves house, or takes another nationality. Companies House must be told within 14 days, in every company where they are an officer. IQ Entities asks one question when you save the change, and the answer decides whether anything is filed: did the details change, or was the record wrong?
Save the change on the person
Open the person and change the detail, for example their last name.
Answer When did this change? beside the save bar.
Choose The details changed and set Changed on to the date it happened. A filing task is raised in every company where they are an officer or a person with significant control.
Choose This corrects a mistake instead when the old value was never right. The old details are kept and nothing is filed.
Click Save changes.
File the change
Open the (CH01) File the change to the director’s details task the save raised, from Compliance Calendar.
Click File a registry form, check that Review before filing names the director as Companies House holds them and shows the new detail, and click File it. See File a form from its task.
| Situation | What to choose |
|---|---|
| The director changed their name or moved house | The details changed, dated when it happened |
| The name or date of birth was typed wrongly when the record was made | This corrects a mistake |
| You are catching up on a change from months ago | The details changed, with the real date, not today's |
Tips from practice
- Date the change from when it happened. The filing's 14 days count from that date.
- A person who is a director of several companies gets one task in each, because each company files its own notice.
