Find an entity in the register
Search and filter the Entity Register to find the companies you need, and open one to work on it.
Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.
The Entity Register lists every entity in your organisation, across every jurisdiction. It is where you go to answer "which of the companies…" questions, and the quickest way into one company's record when you know roughly what you are looking for but not its exact name.
Search the register
Open Entity Register from the sidebar. The page is headed Entities, and the count beside the toolbar says how many entities match.
Type part of a name in Search entities…. The list narrows as you type.
Narrow it with filters
Click a filter beside the search box, such as Status, Type, Jurisdiction or Company group, and tick the values you want. You can tick several in one filter, and combine filters.
Click Clear to remove every filter at once.
Each filter belongs to a column: a filter is offered while its column is shown on the register. If the filter you want is missing, its column has been hidden; see Choose the register's columns.
| You want | Use |
|---|---|
| Companies not yet labelled with a portfolio | Company group, then Unassigned |
| Companies the registrar has flagged, such as a proposal to strike off | Companies House |
| Everything in one country or state | Jurisdiction |
Open an entity
Click the entity's row to open its Overview. The sidebar then shows that entity's own sections: details, addresses, registrations, compliance, governance and ownership.
The ⋯ menu at the end of a row offers Open, and Delete if your role is allowed to delete entities. Deleting asks you to confirm first.
Tips from practice
- The register loads in pages. Click Load more at the bottom to see the rest of a long list before you conclude something is missing.
- A filter that returns nothing says No matching entities. Check the search box as well as the filters: a leftover search term is the usual cause.
- To jump to one company from anywhere in IQ Entities, the search box in the top bar is faster: see Search for anything.
