Upload a new version of a document
Replace a document with its latest version while keeping every earlier one, and restore an earlier version if needed.
Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.
Agreements are amended, registers are redrawn and articles are replaced. Uploading the new copy as a new version keeps one document with one history, rather than two files with similar names and nobody sure which is current. Every earlier version is kept.
Upload the new version
On the entity's Documents page, click the ⋯ at the end of the document's row.
Choose Version history.
Click Upload new version and choose the file. It becomes the Current version, and the earlier ones stay listed below it with who added each one and when.
Go back to an earlier version
In Version history, click Restore beside the version you want. It becomes the current version again, recorded as a new version at the top of the list, so nothing in the history is lost. Use the download button beside any version to save a copy of it.
Tips from practice
- Use a new version when the document is the same instrument, amended. A separate document, such as a deed of variation, is its own upload.
- Restore rather than re-upload an old copy you have on your computer: the history then shows the document went back, not that a new file arrived.
- Uploading a new version needs the same permission as uploading a document. Anyone who can read the document can open Version history and download an earlier version.
