Read an entity's overview

Check an entity's standing, key facts and anything waiting for an answer from the page it opens on.

Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.

Every entity opens on its Overview: the page to read before a board meeting, a call with the company's auditor, or any change to its records. It brings together the facts you are most often asked for, what Companies House last said about the company, and anything IQ Entities is waiting for someone to confirm.

Read the header

  1. Open the entity from the Entity Register. It opens on Overview; choose Overview in its sidebar to come back to it.

  2. Read the header card first. Beside the name are the entity's status and any warning from the public register, such as Proposal to strike off. Hover over a warning to see when it was found.

    Badge What it means
The status, such as Active The status recorded in IQ Entities. A warning from the register does not change it.
A red or amber warning, such as Proposal to strike off Companies House has flagged the company. It stays active until the register changes it, so act now.
Onboarding The entity is still being onboarded: recurring duties run, but changes recorded now raise no tasks.
  3. On the right, Data completeness shows how much of the record is filled in. Click it to see what is missing.

Check what Companies House holds

For a UK company, the Companies House card shows what the last check of the public register found: any notice from the registrar, and each difference between your record and the register.

Click View to open the entity's Registrations page, where you can check the register again and bring its details in. If the company has never been checked, the card offers Check register.

Answer a suggestion

Sometimes IQ Entities can work out a fact from what you have recorded, such as a Spanish company's tax territory from the province of its registered office. It never applies that fact on its own: it asks at the top of the entity's page, with the reason.

  1. Read the reason and the caution under it, and check the fact against what you know about the company.
  2. Click Confirm to record it, or Not right to dismiss it. A dismissed suggestion is not made again unless the registered office changes.

You need permission to edit the entity to answer a suggestion.

Go to the detail

Each card shows the essentials and links to the page that holds the rest.

Card Shows View opens
Entity details Legal name, type, jurisdiction, formation date, status and tax details Entity Details
Registered office The current registered office and registered agent Addresses & Agents
Documents The most recently changed documents Documents
Directors & officers Current directors and officers Directors & Officers
Registrations The home registration and how many others there are Registrations
Share structure Each authorised share class Share Classes

A card with nothing in it yet offers Add, which opens the same page. Entity summary generates a one-page briefing on the company, written by IQ from its record, for you to review and copy into a board pack.

Tips from practice

  • Look at the header before you file anything for a company. A Proposal to strike off usually means overdue accounts or confirmation statements, and the company can be dissolved two months after the notice appears in The Gazette.
  • Check a suggested fact before confirming it. A company is taxed where it is managed, which can differ from its registered office.
  • Switch the scope to This group to read the overview for the entity and everything it controls. See Work on one entity or the whole group.
  • To find an entity in the first place, see Find an entity in the register. To change what the cards show, see Update an entity's details.
