Review an entity's history

See on one timeline when an entity was formed, renamed and converted, who held office and shares, and where it was registered.

Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.

Due diligence, an auditor's question or a dispute often turns on what a company looked like on a past date. History answers that on a single timeline: name changes, legal form, directors and officers, shareholders, share capital and the registered office, each dated by when it happened rather than when it was recorded.

Read the timeline

  1. Open the entity and choose History in its sidebar.

  2. Use the chips above the timeline to show or hide each kind of event. Each chip shows how many events of that kind there are.

  3. Choose the sources to include: Event log for changes recorded in IQ Entities, and From filings for events read from documents such as filings and certificates.

  4. Click an event to see its detail beside the timeline, and use Earlier and Later to step through events in order. Proportional spaces events by time; Collapse gaps closes up the long quiet stretches.

Find and export events

  1. Type in Find an event, person or document… to narrow the timeline to the events that mention a name or a document.

  2. Click Export to download the events shown as a CSV file.

Tips from practice

  • An event read from a document offers Preview document, which opens the page it came from. Your role may also let you Edit event or Remove event to correct what was read.
  • Events in the event log cannot be edited here. To change the record itself, edit it on its own page; that edit is logged as a new event.
  • If your role cannot view some kinds of event, the page says which ones are not shown, so a missing kind is not mistaken for "never happened".
