Check your access and ask for more

See which role you hold and what it lets you do, and ask an administrator for a different one.

Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.

When a button is greyed out or a page tells you it needs a permission you do not hold, the first question is what your role allows. Your own settings answer it, and let you ask for a change without hunting for the right administrator.

See what your role allows

  1. Open Settings from the menu under your name at the foot of the sidebar, then choose Access & Permissions.

  2. Your access shows your role at the top right and every permission it grants under Granted permissions, such as entities, read or documents, write.

Ask for a different role

  1. Under Request a different access level, choose the Requested role.

  2. Add a Reason, such as the work you have been asked to do. It is optional, but it is what the administrator reads when deciding.

  3. Click Submit request. Your administrators are notified to approve or decline it.

  4. The request appears under Your requests, marked pending, approved or declined, with any note the reviewer left.

Tips from practice

  • Ask for the role the work needs, not the highest one. A role that can read and edit records but delete nothing is often enough for day-to-day company secretarial work.
  • A greyed-out button usually names the permission it needs in its tooltip; quote it in your reason.
  • Administrators change roles for the whole team in Change what a member can do.
