Set up a board committee

Record a board committee, where it sits under the board, and who chairs and serves on it.

Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.

When the board forms an audit, remuneration or nomination committee, record it on the company's Committees page with its members and their roles. The committee then has its own place for meetings, can be named as the holder of an authority, and keeps a history of who served on it and when.

Create the committee

  1. Open the company and choose Committees under Governance in the sidebar.

  2. Click New committee.

  3. Enter the Name as the board resolution gives it, and a Type. The suggestions under Type fill it in with one click.

  4. Leave Sits under on The board (top level), or choose another committee to make this one its sub-committee.

  5. Enter the Formed / chartered date from the resolution that set the committee up.

  6. Click Create committee.

Add the members

  1. On the new committee, click Add member.

  2. Search for the person and choose them, or choose Entity for a corporate member. Click New person if they are not in IQ Entities yet.

  3. Choose the Role: Chair, Member, Secretary or Observer, and enter the Effective date of their appointment to the committee.

  4. Click Add member, and repeat for each member. The chair is named under the committee's title.

Tips from practice

  • When someone steps down from a committee, give their membership an End date with Edit member rather than removing them, so the history of who served stays complete. Tick Show former members to see them.
  • Click Schedule meeting on the committee itself to schedule its meetings: the type and the committee are filled in for you.
  • A committee can hold an authority. When the board delegates spending decisions to a committee, choose Committee under Held by on the Authorities page.
  • Entering a Dissolved date marks the committee as dissolved; it stays on record under Dissolved.
