Check that notification email arrives
Limit which addresses notification email may reach, test a send end to end, and find out what happened to a message.
Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.
When a director says they never received the reminder, the answer is on Email delivery: which addresses IQ Entities may write to, which have bounced, and what happened to every message it sent. The same page lets you keep notification email inside your own domains, which many groups require. The question that decides the domain rules is whether anyone outside your own email domains should receive notification email at all.
Limit where notification email may go
Click your name at the foot of the main sidebar, choose Administration, then Email Delivery.
In Recipient domains, set the Mode. Any address a member has on file sends wherever a member's address is; Only the domains listed below sends only to the domains you allow.
List the Allowed domains, one per line, and click Save allowed domains. A leading
*.matches subdomains only:*.northwind-example.comcoversuk.northwind-example.combut notnorthwind-example.comitself, so list both if you need both.Add any Blocked domains and save them. They are applied in either mode.
These rules apply to notification email only. Invitations, external approval links and security email always reach the person they are addressed to, so allowing only your own domain does not lock out your advisers.
Send a test
In Send a test, enter an Address and click Send test.
Read the steps beneath it. Each one reports OK or Failed with the reason: the domain rules, the template, and the mail provider. A test to an address outside the allowed domains stops at the recipient rules, as here.
Find out what happened to a message
- Suppressed addresses lists addresses that bounced permanently or reported the mail as spam. They are held back until cleared, because sending to them puts delivery at risk for everybody. Click Clear once the address is fixed.
- Delivery log lists every message, with its event, recipient, time and status, and the reason when one was held back. Filter it to Held back or Failed to find the problem.
Tips from practice
- Before turning on Only the domains listed below, send a test to an address at each domain your directors use. A non-executive director's own firm is the one most often missed.
- A held-back message usually has a plain reason: the recipient cannot access that entity, the domain is not allowed, or the address has bounced.
- Fix the cause of a bounce, such as a mistyped address or a closed mailbox, before you clear the suppression, or the next message bounces again.
