Move a task to a new date

Change the due date of a task you control from the calendar, and correct the record behind a deadline that IQ Entities counts for you.

Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.

Plans change: the board meets a week later, the auditors need longer, a reminder was set too early. Whether you can move a task's date depends on who set it. A date you typed in is yours to move. A statutory deadline is counted by IQ Entities from a record, such as the date a director was appointed or the company's accounting reference date, so moving the task would only hide the real deadline. That date moves when the record is corrected.

The task Where its date comes from How to change it
Added by hand You Pick a new date in the Due column
Raised by a recurring duty, marked Auto The duty's due rule Correct the record it is counted from, such as the year end
Raised by a change, marked Triggered The date of the event Correct the date of the event on its record

Change a date you set

  1. On the Compliance Calendar, click the date in the task's Due column.

  2. Pick the new date. It is saved as soon as you choose it, and the task moves to its new place in the list. Clear the due date removes the date altogether, and the task moves under No due date.

You can also open the task, choose Edit and change Due date there.

When the date has a padlock

  1. Hover the padlock beside the date. It says where the date comes from and why it cannot be moved by hand.

  2. Open the record the date is counted from and correct it there, for example the appointment date on the director's record, or Fiscal year end in the entity's details. The task's deadline follows the record.

Tips from practice

  • Moving a date tells the task's owner: A deadline I am responsible for moves is one of the notifications they can receive.
  • Do not clear the date on a task you still mean to do. A task under No due date never turns red and never reminds anyone.
  • A registrar's extension is not a reason to edit the record. Keep the evidence of the extension with the task and file by the extended date, knowing the task shows as overdue from the original date.
  • If the record is right and the deadline still looks wrong, open the task and read Why this date; see Open a task and see what raised it.
