File a form from its task

Check what Companies House will receive beside what IQ Entities holds, then file it from the task that asked for it.

Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.

Every Companies House filing in IQ Entities starts as a task. Recording an appointment, a resignation, a new registered office, an allotment or a person with significant control raises the task for the filing it obliges, and the confirmation statement is raised on its yearly cycle. The task builds the form from your records, shows you exactly what will be sent, and files it when you say so. The work is checking the record, because whatever it holds is what goes on the public register.

Open the task

  1. Open the task from Compliance Calendar, or from the company's own calendar. Its title names the form, such as (AP01) File the director’s appointment, and the sentence under the title says what happened and when.

Fill in anything the record is missing

  1. If the task has a Needed to file card, each line is a fact the filing needs and the record does not hold, such as a director's personal code or an appointment's service address. Click Fix it beside each one and complete the record.

  2. Come back to the task. Once nothing is listed, the File a registry form button is available.

Review and file

  1. In Do the work, answer any questions the form asks. What this filing will send below them lists each value IQ Entities holds beside the value that will be filed.

  2. To see the official form filled in, click Preview the paper form. It downloads a copy marked as a preview, not for filing.

  3. Click File a registry form. The note beside it is a reminder that it sends under your organisation's credentials.

  4. Read Review before filing. Each row shows What we hold and What will be filed, with a tick where they agree and new where the filing adds something your record does not show. If a value is wrong, click Back, correct the record, and open the review again.

  5. Click File it. The filing goes to Companies House under your presenter account and cannot be recalled.

  6. The card changes to In progress: submitted and waiting for the registrar. The task closes itself when Companies House accepts the filing; see Follow a filing after you submit it.

Tips from practice

  • Correct the record, not the filing. The review has no fields to edit because the register and the filing must say the same thing.
  • If the review shows a value you did not expect, look at the record it came from before you file. A stale address or a misspelt name on the record goes onto the public register as it is.
  • The filing needs your presenter account and the company's authentication code to be set up first: see Connect your Companies House presenter account.
