Choose when IQ asks first

Decide whether IQ asks before every action, only before changes, or runs without asking, for the chat you are in.

Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.

IQ can do more than answer: it can create an entity, record an appointment or update a registered office. How often it stops to ask is your choice, and the right one depends on the work. A careful first pass over a client's records wants a check at every step; a routine lookup across the portfolio does not.

You are Choose
Reviewing what IQ does step by step, or new to it Ask before every action
Working normally: looking things up freely, approving each change Confirm changes only
Running a well-understood task you have checked before Run without confirming

Confirm changes only is where every chat starts.

Change the setting

  1. Click the + button at the bottom left of the question box.

  2. Point to Confirmations and choose one of the three settings. A tick shows the one in use.

The setting applies to the chat you are in.

Tips from practice

  • Ask before every action asks before look-ups too. For a long piece of research, approve the look-ups once with Always allow in this chat; see Approve what IQ changes.
  • Keep Run without confirming for work you could undo. Every change IQ makes is recorded in the audit trail with IQ as its source.
  • Switch back to Confirm changes only when you move on to a different task.
