See which entities owe a duty

Find out why a duty applies to an entity, and which entities across the portfolio owe a law, are out of scope or do not owe it yet.

Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.

Two questions come up whenever a deadline is challenged. Why does this company owe it at all? And who else in the group owes it, and who has been left out? The duty's page answers the first for one entity, and the law's page answers the second for the whole portfolio, with the reason recorded for every company taken out.

Why one entity owes a duty

  1. Open a task and click the duty's name beside Why this exists and what is expected of you; see Read the law behind a duty.

  2. Why this applies to names the group the entity is in that requires the duty. A duty reaches an entity only through a group, so this is the record to change if the duty should not apply.

Who owes it across the portfolio

  1. Under Where this comes from, click the law the duty rests on.

  2. The law's page ends with Across your portfolio. Owe it lists the entities that owe the law's duties.

  3. Choose Out of scope to list the entities that do not.

  4. An entity an administrator took out of a group shows the reason they gave beside its name. Not yet lists the entities it is not in force for yet.

What you see What it means
An entity under Owe it It is in a group that requires the law's duties
Not tracked beside it It owes the duty, but nothing is raising tasks for it yet
An entity under Out of scope, with a reason It was taken out of the group, and the reason is the record of why
An entity under Not yet The duty does not apply to it yet

For one duty rather than the whole law, click the duty in the law's list of duties. It opens for the portfolio rather than for one entity, and ends with the same panel.

Tips from practice

  • A line in amber above the list, counting the entities that owe this with no obligation tracking it, is a finding to act on: those duties are owed and nothing is watching them. Ask an administrator to check the groups.
  • To change who owes a duty, change the groups, not the tasks; see Assign requirements to a group.
  • When a deadline you expect is missing for one entity, see Find out why a deadline is missing.
