Work on one entity or the whole group
Switch between the whole portfolio, a single entity and an entity with everything it controls.
Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.
Most work is about one company: its directors, its filings, its registers. Some is about a parent and every subsidiary under it, such as a group-wide review before the year end. IQ Entities calls this the scope, and it decides what the sidebar offers and what each page shows.
The question that decides the choice: is the work about this company alone, or about everything it controls?
| You are working on | Choose |
|---|---|
| Everything in your organisation | Global |
| One company's own records | the company, then This entity |
| A parent and every company it controls | the parent, then This group |
Choose an entity
Click the scope switcher at the top of the sidebar. In global scope it reads Global.
Type part of a name to narrow the list, then choose the entity. The People tab does the same for a person.
The sidebar now shows that entity's own pages, such as Entity Details, Directors & Officers and Audit Trail, and the switcher reads Entity scope under its name.
Widen it to the group
In the top bar, click This group.
The page now covers the entity and everything it controls through more than half of the voting rights, down the ownership tree. The overview lists the entities in the group, with counts of controlled subsidiaries and jurisdictions.
Click This entity to go back to the company on its own.
This group works on the pages where a group view makes sense: Overview, Documents, Addresses, Registrations, Share classes, Principals and Audit trail. On other pages it is greyed out, and its tooltip says so.
Go back to the whole portfolio
Click the globe at the start of the breadcrumb in the top bar, or choose Global in the scope switcher.
Tips from practice
- The scope is part of the page address, so a link you send a colleague opens on the same entity and the same group view.
- Who controls whom comes from the cap table. If a subsidiary is missing from the group, check that the parent's shareholding is recorded.
- To jump to an entity without opening the switcher, use Search for anything.
