Draw a proposed structure with IQ
Ask IQ to redraw a structure model for a proposed reorganisation, approving each change to the canvas.
Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.
The steps paper for a reorganisation needs the group before and after: a new holding company above the parent, a subsidiary moved across, a dormant company struck off. On a structure model you can draw this by hand, box by box. IQ can do the drawing from a description, on the model you have open, without touching any register.
Open the model and ask
Open the model under Modelling, or start one from the company's structure chart; see Model a proposed reorganisation.
Capture a version of the canvas as it stands under Versions, so the "before" picture is kept.
Click Ask IQ in the top bar. IQ is told which model is open, so "this canvas" and "here" mean this one.
Describe the change:
Add a new holding company, Northwind Topco Limited, above Northwind Holdings Limited, owning all of its shares. Use the Holding Company node if the library has one.
What IQ does
IQ can draw a company's live structure onto the canvas, and add, change or remove boxes and the lines between them. When your organisation's node library has a node that fits, such as a holding company or subsidiary node, IQ uses it, so the new box looks like the others.
Every change to the canvas asks first, unless you chose Run without confirming. Approve it and the canvas updates.
Check the drawing
- Read every percentage on the new lines. IQ draws what you described, and a "wholly owned" that should have been 75% is your correction to make.
- The model is a drawing. It never changes a register, a cap table or the live structure chart.
- Capture a second version when the drawing is agreed, named after the proposal.
Tips from practice
- Describe one move per message for a complicated reorganisation. Each is easier to check, and to reject.
- Ask IQ to draw the structure as it stood on a date ("as at 31 March 2026") for a historic "before" page, and name the date in the version.
- Export the model for the board from Download, as described in Model a proposed reorganisation.
