Compare entities with an insight
Build a grid with a row for each entity, person or document and a column for each question you need answered.
Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.
Some questions only make sense across many companies at once: which subsidiaries are still on the old articles, when each was incorporated, who sits on each board. An insight puts them in one grid, a row for each entity, person or document and a column for each question, so you can read across the group instead of opening each record in turn.
Start an insight
Click Insights in the sidebar, then New insight. Insights you saved before are listed beside it.
Give it a Title, then choose what each row is under Analyze: Entities, People or Documents.
Click Next and tick the rows to include. Search to find one in a long list; the count under the list says how many are selected. For documents, choose the Owner entity first.
Click Next. Optionally, list the kinds of document IQ should read when it answers questions, such as articles or board minutes, in Document type filter (optional).
Click Create insight.
Read the grid
Each row is one subject and each column one question. A filled cell shows its answer and, beside it, how many sources it came from: point to the sources to see them. For an answer IQ worked out from documents, point to the answer to read its reasoning. Use the search box and the filters above the grid to narrow the rows to the answers you are interested in.
Tips from practice
- Start with the questions the record already answers, such as status, type and jurisdiction, and add questions IQ answers from documents once those look right.
- Use Add rows in the grid to bring in a company you missed, rather than starting again.
- To add the questions themselves, see Add columns to an insight.
