Set up a bank mandate
Record how signatures combine for a company, such as any two of four, and seat the signatories it names.
Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.
A bank mandate says more than who may sign: it says how many of them must sign together, and often above what amount. In IQ Entities that combination is a signing rule, kept apart from the authorities themselves. The rule says "any two", and the signatories seated on it are the people already empowered on the company's Authorities page.
So record the mandate letter and its holders first, as in Record who can sign for a company, then set up the rule.
Create the signing rule
On the company's Authorities page, open Signing rules.
Click New signing rule.
Give the rule a Name, and choose the Rule:
The mandate says Choose One named signatory signs alone One signatory alone Any one of the signatories Any one signatory Any two (or three) of them together Any N signatories, and enter Signatures needed One class A signatory with one class B Combination of classes Under Applies to, keep Everything this entity signs, or choose the kind of decision the rule covers. Enter a band in From and Up to when the rule only applies between two amounts.
Enter In force from, and link the Resolution that set the rule if the board resolved it.
Click Record mandate.
Seat the signatories
On the new rule, click Add signatory.
Choose the Holder. Each entry names the person and the authority they hold, because the seat rests on that authority: if it is revoked, the seat stops counting.
Choose a Signing class if the rule uses classes, and leave This signature binds on unless the person attends without counting towards the rule.
Click Seat signatory, and repeat for each signatory.
Tips from practice
- A rule with nobody seated says so on its card: nothing can be signed under it until signatories are added.
- For "any two up to £250,000, any three above", record two rules over the same signatories, each with its own band.
- Removing a signatory from a rule does not take away their authority; they are no longer counted by that rule.
- Check the answer on Who can sign? for a typical payment once the rule is set up. It is the quickest way to spot a missing seat.
