Build a report with IQ

Describe a report the catalogue does not have in the Report studio, save the brief, and run it again on today's data.

Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.

The reports catalogue covers the standard questions. The ones that are particular to your group, such as a memo of filings for one client, a deck on the structure for the board, a spreadsheet in the layout the auditors asked for, are where the Report studio comes in: you describe the report in your own words and IQ builds the file from your records. A brief that works can be saved, so next quarter's version is one click.

Describe the report

  1. Open Reports from the sidebar. The Report studio is at the top.

  2. Click Open the studio.

  3. Say who the report is for, what it covers and the format: PowerPoint, Word, Excel or PDF. The prompts under Try a prompt show the shape of a good brief.

Draft a Word document listing every statutory filing due in the next 90 days across the group, grouped by jurisdiction, with the entity, the filing, its deadline and who it is assigned to, and a short covering paragraph for the board.

IQ gathers the data and asks before it writes the file, as in any chat with IQ. Ask for changes in the same chat until the file is right; see Draft a document with IQ. If IQ runs one of the catalogue reports for you, the result also appears under Recent reports.

Save it to run again

  1. Click Save as report above the chat.

  2. Give it a Name, choose who can see it (Only me, Specific people, Everyone with access to an entity or Everyone in the organisation) and click Save.

What is saved is the brief: everything you asked in the chat, without IQ's replies, so each run gathers the data as it stands that day.

Run a saved report

  1. Under Custom reports, click the report. It is marked AI report.

  2. Choose Run as PDF, Run as Word or Run as Excel. The report is built in the background and appears under Recent reports, ready to download.

  3. To change the brief, choose Open in studio: a new chat opens with the brief in the question box, ready to edit and send.

The first run decides which data the report uses; the card then says what it uses. From the second run, the file has a Changes since the last report section.

Tips from practice

  • Check the first run of a saved report against the records before you send it. Later runs follow the same plan.
  • If a run says IQ could not work out which data the report needs, reword the brief in the studio and save it again.
  • Keep briefs about what to report, not when: "the next 90 days" stays right; "Q4 2026" does not.
