Record addresses and agents
Add or move an entity's registered office, records office or registered agent, with the date each one took effect.
Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.
Addresses & Agents holds where an entity is registered and where its records are kept, and the agents that act for it, each with the date it took effect. An entity has one registered office at a time. When it moves, the old one stays on file marked as no longer registered, because a former registered office is part of the company's history.
Add an address
Open the entity and choose Addresses & Agents in its sidebar. Click New address.
Choose the Type. The types on offer depend on the entity's jurisdiction.
Fill in the address. Type in Find a location to search for it and choose the match to fill the fields, or use Reuse an existing address to copy one you already hold for another entity. You can also type it in.
Open the extra fields under the address, the link beginning Show more, to add the Effective date, End date, phone, email and notes.
Click Create.
Move the registered office
Click New address and leave the Type as Registered office. The dialog shows the current registered office and says the new one replaces it.
Enter the new address and its Effective date: the day the move took effect.
Click Replace registered office, and confirm.
For a UK company, recording the move raises a task to report it to Companies House.
Tips from practice
- Tick Show inactive to see addresses that are no longer in use.
- The ⋯ menu on a row edits or deletes an address. End-date a former address rather than deleting it, so the history stays complete.
- For a UK company with a SAIL address, the Statutory registers card under the list records which registers are kept there and which at the registered office.
