What you can do with IQ

The jobs IQ helps with, from looking up a director to recording minutes, with questions to try and the guide for each.

Screenshots are retaken from IQ Entities on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.

IQ is the AI assistant in IQ Entities. It works through the same records and actions you do: it can look up anything your role can read, and change anything your role can change, asking you first. Most people start by asking it questions, then find it saves the most time on the jobs that mean opening a dozen pages.

Ask from IQ Assistant in the sidebar, or click Ask IQ in the top bar to open IQ beside the page you are on. Every chat says above it that you are talking to an AI assistant, and to check anything you will rely on.

Find and read information

Registers, people, ownership, filings, documents and the history of a record: if you can open it, IQ can read it and answer in a sentence or a table.

Who are the directors of Northwind Holdings Limited, and when was each appointed?

Who controls Northwind Holdings Limited, and which companies does it control?

Which companies in the group have no registered office recorded?

See Ask IQ a question and Ask IQ who controls a company.

Update records

IQ can create and change records: appoint a director, record a resignation, set up a company, change an address, assign a task. Before each change it shows a card with what it will write and waits for Approve. It can only make the changes your own role allows, and each one is recorded in the audit trail with IQ as its source.

Record Helena Marsh as a director of Northwind Holdings Limited from 30 September 2026, with the title Finance Director.

Set up Northwind Robotics Limited as a new subsidiary of Northwind Holdings Limited.

See Approve what IQ changes, Appoint or resign a director through IQ and Set up a new subsidiary with IQ.

Work with documents

Attach a document to your question, or name one already saved, and IQ reads it in full and cites the page it relied on. It can then record what the document says, with your approval.

Read the attached articles and tell me the quorum for board meetings, with the article number.

These are the signed minutes of the board meeting on 30 September 2026. Record the changes they make to the register of directors.

See Ask IQ about a document and Record the changes in signed minutes with IQ.

Deadlines and compliance

IQ reads the tasks, deadlines and data completeness checks behind the Compliance Calendar.

What is due across the group this month, and who is it assigned to?

Before the year end, which companies are missing data that would hold up a filing?

See Ask IQ what is due this month and Check the group for missing data before year end.

Drafts, reports and board papers

IQ can write what it finds into a Word document, PDF, spreadsheet or slide deck, and the Report studio turns a brief into a report you can run again.

Draft a one-page note for the board listing the directors of every UK company in the group, as a Word document.

Prepare me for the Q4 2026 Board Meeting of Northwind Holdings Limited.

See Draft a document with IQ, Build a report with IQ and Prepare for a board meeting with IQ.

One company, its group or everything

IQ is told the scope of the page you ask from: one company, a parent and everything it controls, or the whole organisation. See Ask IQ about one entity or the whole group.

From Claude

The same records and actions are available in Claude, or another AI tool that speaks MCP, through a connection that signs in as you. See Work on your records from Claude.

What IQ will not do

IQ is an AI, and the line above every chat says so.

  • Give legal advice. IQ says what the records show and what the law generally requires. What to do about it is your judgement, and it will not claim to be a lawyer or a person.
  • Go beyond your role. IQ acts as you. A record your role cannot read, or a change it cannot make, is refused, and IQ tells you so rather than guessing.
  • Change anything without asking, unless you choose Run without confirming. With Confirm changes only, where every chat starts, and with Ask before every action, every change waits for your approval. See Choose when IQ asks first.
  • Make up records. IQ answers from what is recorded and says when it cannot find something.
  • Handle a few file jobs, such as exporting the audit trail as a CSV. Those are done in the app.

Tips from practice

  • Name the company, the person and the period. A precise question gets a precise answer.
  • Read the card before you approve a change, not after.
  • Teach IQ the things that hold for every chat, such as how you like dates written; see Manage what IQ remembers.
